Philip D. Blades
Philip D. Blades, 89, of Lexington, passed away, Saturday, September 9, 2023 at his residence. Born March 10, 1934 in Carroll, IA, he was the son of the late Campbell Stewart and Ethel Dyson Blades. Mr. Blades obtained a B.S. from Michigan State University and a Master’s Degree in social work from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He was employed for 17 years as an Executive Director of Family Services Agency in Burbank, CA. In his retirement Phil devoted himself to travel, visiting just about every nation in Latin America and Europe, and many in the Middle East and Asia, among other countries, usually with his partner Juan Hinojosa. Phil had many stories of these trips and was a wonderful friend. He will be missed by many.
Phil’s survivors include three nephews and one cousin. No services are planned. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Lexington Humane Society, 1600 Old Frankfort Pike, Lexington, KY 40504. Kerr Brothers – Harrodsburg Road is in charge of the arrangements.
