Gladys Evelyn Smith
Funeral Time: Monday, March 20th at 2:00PM
Gladys Evelyn “Nana” Smith, 93, answered her heavenly fathers call to come home on March 16, 2023. She was the widow of Rueben Smith. Evelyn was also preceded in death by her parents, Clinton and Gladys Sherrod; and her son, Gary Dean Smith. She is survived by one daughter, Joy Watts; four grandchildren, Brian Smith (Christy), Jennifer Jefferies, Deana Reed (Leonard), and Carrie Sanders (Eric); nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Evelyn was a former member of Ashland Avenue Baptist for many years, where she served faithfully as a Sunday school teacher, creator and leader of the “Golden Agers”, and worked with the youth. She was a current member of Heritage Baptist Church. Evelyn Lovingly Cared for her family. She loved fishing, sewing, and taking many cherished photographs.
Funeral services will be held at 2PM Monday, March 20, 2023, at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home – Main Street with Brother Hershael York officiating. Visitation will be prior from 12PM until the time of service. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Memorial Park.
