Mildred "Millie" Marie Vance Kirk

Mildred “Millie” Marie Vance Kirk age, 96 of Lexington, KY passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on September 20, 2022. “Nana” (as everyone would later come to call her) passed in the same way she lived her life; with dignity and surrounded by her loved ones.

Mildred was born November 28, 1925 in West Liberty, KY. She was the third of 6 children born to the late Tela and Lee Roy Vance. Mildred was also preceded in death by her husband; Kirby Kirk, son; Daniel Kirk and brother; Edward Vance. She is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law Susan and James Adams, her sisters; Vivian House, Ejean Nickell, Betty Wells, her brother; Jimmy Vance, her grandchildren; Sommer (Brian) Cook, Lauren Adams Holder, Michael (Michelle) Adams, Daniel Kirk II and her 9 great-grandchildren as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

Mildred, was raised in the mountains of West Liberty, KY. Where she attended a one room school house and helped her family on their farm. At the age of 18, she moved to Lexington, KY where she married, raised her 2 children, attended Stonewall Wesleyan Methodist Church/Stonewall Community Church and eventually retired from IBM. She never knew a stranger, and could be a world class flirt. Mildred loved singing old hymns, playing bridge, clog dancing, and traveling the world. But most of all she loved being a mom and grandmother. Nana lived a long, beautiful, full life and left behind a legacy of loved ones who have learned to be strong, kind, giving, and devoted through her example.

Visitation will be from 10;30 am to 12:30 pm on Friday, September 23, 2022, at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home-Harrodsburg Road with funeral services conducted at 12:30 pm. Burial will follow the service at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Jim and Michael Adams, Brian, Jordan and Noah Cook, and Jenna Holder. Honorary Pallbearer Daniel Kirk II.
