Ms. Connie Lou Powell
Funeral Time: Monday, September 27th at 2:30PM
Connie Lou Powell, 76, of Nicholasville, passed away at her residence on Thursday, September 23. Born December 11, 1944 in Fayette County, she was the daughter of the late John Lynn and Cora Katherine Kelly Powell. As a child she contracted Polio at the age of seven which left her a paraplegic but Ms. Powell still led a full and rich life. She was a graduate of Henry Clay High School and earned an Associate’s Degree from the Sullivan Business College. She retired after 40 years of service from Cardiovascular and Thoracic Associates as Medical Transcriptionist. She is survived by three sisters, Betty Dixon, Billie Dean (James) Freedman and Gerry Wiley; a brother, James Lynn (Linda) Powell; numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews and life-long friends, Judi Fryer and Mary Jo Standafer. Funeral services for Ms. Powell will be 2:30pm Monday, September 27 at Kerr Brothers-Harrodsburg Rd with her nieces, Kathy Gordon, Megan Freedman and Kelly Wiley officiating. Burial will follow at the Lexington Cemetery. Visitation will be 12:30 pm till the time of service at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Ray Vanover, Brian and Travis Gordon, Greg Dixon and Kevin, Jeffrey and Gage Freedman. Honorary pallbearers will be Phillip Ray and Harrison Vanover. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the March of Dimes, Southland Christian Church or Bluegrass Hospice Care.
