Calvin Grant
Funeral Time: Monday, September 27th at 12:30PM
Calvin Grant, age 74 of Lexington, beloved husband of Shirley Ann Grant for 53 years, passed away Saturday, September 18 2021 at Baptist Health Lexington. He was born August 18, 1947 in Richmond, a son of the late Alberta Johnson Grant and the late Jesse Grant, Jr. Calvin was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran and also served in the Army Reserves for three years after his enlistment. He retired from Square D after 26 years of service while also simultaneously managing his own business, Grant Roofing & Remodeling. In his spare time, Calvin was a talented woodcarver and was an active member of the Kentucky Woodcarver’s Guild. He also was a food enthusiast and enjoyed going out to eat at new restaurants upon their opening. Although Calvin was not able to donate upon his passing, he was an “Organ Donor in Spirit” with KODA and advocate for their cause. Besides his wife, he is survived by: a daughter, Nanette (Joey) Pickett of Lexington; a son, Todd Calvin (Pam) Grant of Mound City, KS; grandchildren, Christopher Graves, Derek Graves, Aridne Grant, Zachary Grant, Dylan Grant, Cody Grant, Brayden Grant, and Cameron Grant; step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Wayne (Donna) Grant of Richmond, and Jesse (Diana) Grant III of Richmond; a special cousin, Doris (Kenny) Curtis; a brother-in-law, Jimmy Haire; step-mother, Shirley Grant; and step-sister, Judy (Charles) Wells. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by: a daughter, Erin Grant; and a brother, Lewis Cecil Grant. Funeral services will be 12:30 pm Monday, September 27, 2021 at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home-Harrodsburg Road. Visitation will be 10:30 am to 12:30 pm Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
