Grace Imogene Cole Drury
Funeral Time: Thursday, September 16th at 1:00PM
Grace Imogene Cole Drury was born April 29, 1931 to parents Ernest and Grace Cole. She was married on August 14, 1948 to Al Drury (deceased) with whom she had two children, Charlotte Drury King of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, and Jill (Russell) Travis of Lexington, Kentucky. She had 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Imogene, aka, Nana, was known for her unflinching sense of right and wrong. For example, as a small girl she baptized a litter of puppies to save their souls. Needless to say, the very moment the puppies emerged they ascended directly to heaven. Imogene’s loyalty and love for family and friends was endless. She was Nana to more than just her own family. The children of the neighborhood sent her cards and letters addressed to Nana and Poppy Drury. Imogene was and will always be a significant positive influence in her family’s lives. Nana had multiple exceptional qualities. Perhaps the two most memorable were her never ending positive influence in her family’s lives and her deep and unwavering faith in our Lord and Savior. Nana and Poppy enjoyed 68 years of marriage. Poppy preceded Nana in death by 5 years and Nana grieved daily. The family is sure that Poppy is happy to have Nana back to give him his daily instructions. Poppy’s gain is the family’s loss. However, Nana’s rock solid faith and nurturing love will live on to inspire her family and many others for years to come. Funeral services will be held 1 pm Thurs., Sept. 16 at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Rd. Burial will follow in Lexington Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 pm Wed., Sept. 15 at the funeral home.
