Mrs. Hedy Irene Stathis
Funeral Time: Thursday, June 10th at 1:00PM
Hedy Irene Stathis was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, June 2, 2021.

She was born on October 10, 1941 in Lexington, Kentucky. Hedy was the youngest child of Mike and Helen Kalos, who immigrated to the United States from Crete, Greece. The Kaloses were very proud of their Greek heritage and of their Orthodox Christian faith. Hedy’s mother, Helen, helped to found the Holy Mother Queen of All Greek Orthodox Church in Lexington, KY. Hedy grew up in the church and remained an active servant of the church throughout her life. She was extremely spiritual and the parish was very special to her.

After graduating high school, Hedy married her lifelong companion, George Stathis, in 1960, and together they had four wonderful children. Hedy loved her family and was extremely proud of them. She became a grandmother for the first time in 1997 and again in 2000. She embraced her role of “Yia Yia” to her two granddaughters. They will always cherish their sleepovers with Yia Yia where she would host fashion shows. The love and laughter that was had will remain with them. Yia Yia was truly one of their best friends.

Hedy is survived by her loving children: Constantine (Angie), Selina, and Elaine Stathis. Sister: Artie Dallas. Granddaughters: Ashton and Alyssa Stathis. Sisters-in-law: Evelyn Stathis and Diana Stathis. Nephews: Constantine Stathis and Alexander Stathis (Godson) and countless other family members and friends.

Hedy is proceeded in death by her parents, Mike and Helen Kalos Her loving husband, George Stathis. Brother: Gus Kalos. Sister: Mary Psikogios. Brother-in-law: Demetrios K. Stathis

A funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on June 10, 2021 at the Holy Mother Queen of All Greek Orthodox Church, 3001 Tates Creek Road, Lexington, Kentucky, 40502. The family will receive visitors from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
