Rev. William "Bill" Ransford
Reverend William E. Ransford, or “Brother Bill” as he was so fondly known, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky after a short illness. Bill lived each day to the fullest as a devout Christian, husband, father, grandfather and friend to countless community and congregation members spanning over 74 years. After graduating from the Cincinnati Bible Seminary, Bill embarked on a lifetime devoted to the teachings of Christianity. His dedication as co-founder and minister of the Church at Athens in Lexington, Kentucky has resulted in so many wonderful people dedicating their lives to Christ. Bill officiated hundreds of wedding ceremonies spanning decades, all the while bringing the promise of commitment “for better or worse” to husbands and wives, too many to mention. He brought consolation, understanding and peace to an incalculable number of family and friends mourning the loss of their loved ones. He will be remembered and revered as a pillar of the community, inspiring others to discover peace and love through our Father, Son and Holy Spirit. William E. Ransford was preceded in death by his wonderful wife and best friend of 71 years, Mary Lucille Ransford and beloved son Michael Allan Ransford He is survived in this world by son Marshal E. Ransford, daughter Ruth E. Ransford, son John W. Ransford, grandsons Shawn A. Ransford and Robin M. Ransford and granddaughters Ethel and Mileena Davis.
