Ernest Duncil
Funeral Time: Thursday, April 8th at 2:30PM
Ernest E Duncil, 73, of Versailles, KY, passed away on Friday, April 2nd, 2021 after fighting a courageous battle against cancer that was very recently diagnosed in his lung and brain. Ernie was born on July 25th, 1947 to the late George Elmer Duncil and Monie Lee Back Duncil in Hazard, KY. After graduating from Dilce Combs High School in 1966, he moved to Versailles, KY. He served in the US Army beginning in 1968 and was a 40 year employee of the former Rand McNally Company in Versailles where he made many friends and got his nickname “Zero”. One of his most acquired attributes was making lifelong friends and telling unique stories about his childhood. He was passionate about golfing, camping, gardening and his guitar. He is survived by his three children: Jennifer Ann Duncil, Barry Patrick Duncil, & Joshua Clay Duncil and two sisters Penelope Duncil Jackson (Danny), Versailles, KY and Pandora Duncil Smith (Roy), Dayton, OH, and numerous nieces and nephews. Ernie was predeceased by siblings: Reagen Duncil, William Ronald Duncil, Priscilla Kaye Duncil & Georgia Duncil Smitha. Anyone who knew him knew that he was the most loving father, brother, uncle and friend anyone could ask for and he accepted Christ as his Personal Savior at the age of 29 and spent many hours claiming scripture and reading God’s Word. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, April 8th from 12-2pm at Kerr Brothers on Harrodsburg Rd in Lexington, KY followed by a graveside service at Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville, KY with military honors.
