Katherine Nicholason Hudson
Funeral Time: Thursday, February 25th at 12:30PM
Katherine (Nicholson) Hudson, born September 24, 1921 in Lexington, Ky. On Wednesday February 17th, God called home one of his saints after 99 years of service. Katherine (Granny), was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend. While she had limited formal education, she was one of the most sensible, intelligent, and wise souls among even the most studied. A beloved wife and mother she created a home of love, faith, and strength that provided a foundation for her family to stand on and thrive. A foundation which carried to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was greatly admired by her friends and fellow saints with, and for whom she served. Most of her time of service was spent at Meadowthorpe Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher, Women’s church leader and organizer, choir member, and friend. She always made sure needs were met and hearts were lifted, especially the elderly and widowed, even when she was elderly and widowed herself. Katherine was the last of her brothers and sisters, the widow of Charles Hudson, and the mother of 6 children. Preceded in death by son Lewis Gamboe. Daughter Judy (Dave) Clark, who is survived by Katherine’s grandchildren, Frances (Steve) Kries and her sons, Stanley (Amanda) Clark and his children. Katherine is also survived by sons Billy Gamboe and his son Mike. Charles “Barney” (Kathy) Hudson and his daughter Chelley (Jay) and her children. Mike (Anne) Hudson and his son David (Jeanette) and his daughters. Larry (Susan) Hudson and his children, Shannon (Jason) and her children, Chloe, Tre`, and Tristen. As well as other family and friends, too many to be mentioned here. While we grieve in sadness for her loss, we also celebrate with joy the life God blessed us with for so long, and take comfort that she celebrates now at Jesus’ feet with friends and loved ones that have gone before. Services include visitation Wednesday, Feb 24th from 6-8 PM at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home-Harrodsburg Rd. Funeral Thursday, Feb 25th at 12:30 PM at Kerr Bros Funeral Home-Harrodsburg Rd. Burial following at Lexington Cemetery. Any monetary gifts can be made in her honor to the Meadowthorpe Baptist Church that she loved and where she served for so long. The family members express great thanks to Elizabeth and Annette and the many other caretakers at Homestead Post Acute, who so lovingly cared for Granny in the last 2 yrs and blessed final days of her life.
