Carl B. Delabar
Carl B. Delabar, loving husband of Joyce Lester Delabar, died Friday, January 8, 2021. He was the oldest son of the late Carl A. and Christine Delabar of Wheelersburg, Ohio. After graduating from Transylvania University, Carl was recruited to work in the Budget Office of Governor A.B. Chandler and when the Chandler Medical Center was in planning stages, he was tapped to be the financial and budget officer for Dr. William R. Willard, Vice President of the new center where he remained for the duration of his career. He retired in 1989. Carl was known for his integrity and fairness to all. Known for the love of family and his home, he spent his retirement gardening, traveling and enjoying his grandchildren, particularly following their baseball activities. Besides his wife, he leaves behind: five children; Carl Martin (Rose) of Vidalia, Georgia, Gregory Michael of Munfordville, KY, Steven Edward (Debbe) of Glendale, KY, Robin Michele Scott of Bryantsville, KY, and Gregory Wayne Curtis (Tania) of Lexington; nine grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. Also, he leaves three sisters, two brothers and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Carl was preceded in death by: a son, James Thomas; and two sisters, Patty and Marilyn. Private services will be held at a later date.
