John Mikolasko Jr., 85, of Lexington, KY, passed away on December 31, 2020. He was born on March 30, 1935, in Chicago, IL, to the late John Mikolasko and Mary Benko. John served in the U.S. Army in El Paso, TX and Seoul, Korea. He worked at the Catholic Church Extension Society for 26 years. He was also one of the founders of a group for divorced individuals- “The Phoenix.” John was an avid reader, and he completed several marathons. He was a devoted brother,father, and grandfather, and spent his life serving his family and his church. He took his grandchildren to plays, museums, Disneyworld and even Chuck-E Cheese. Some of his volunteer work included volunteering to hold babies who were born to addicted mother's going through drug withdrawal in order to give them comfort through human touch. John was a true blue Cubs fan. He was able to see the Cubs win the "big one". John is preceded in death by his parents John Mikolasko and Mary Benko. He is survived by his sisters, Nancy Munis, and Mary Lynch; his son, Thomas Mikolasko; his daughter, Julie Lucas (Paul); his grandchildren, Christine Setter (Tim), and Leah Seifert; and his great-grandchildren, Lincoln Setter, Taylor Setter, and Grant Setter. John was dearly loved and will be missed. Services will be private at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home. In Lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
