Christine Kidd
Funeral Time: Tuesday, May 26th at 1:30PM
Christine Hahn Kidd age 90, departed this life after a brief illness on Thursday,
May 21, 2020 at Baptist Health Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. Mrs. Kidd most recently resided in Lexington in the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Esther and Steven Washing.

Christine was born on December 18, 1929 in Bedford, Kentucky, the third child of
Rev. Jennings B. Hahn and Lillian Purnell Hahn. As the daughter of a Methodist pastor, over the years she and her family lived in many different areas in Kentucky. She graduated from high school in Junction City as Valedictorian of the class of 1947. Christine continued her education at Asbury College in Wilmore, working her way through school as an assistant to the Registrar. On May 27, 1951, Christine married a classmate, Harry L. Kidd, Jr., at her father’s church in Jackson, Kentucky. A few days later they graduated together as newlyweds, with Harry receiving a BA degree in History, and Christine, as a Cum Laude with a BA degree in Home Economics.

Christine was a loving wife and mother and created a warm and welcoming home in which to raise their five children. She enjoyed sewing, handiwork, and had a green thumb which she inherited from her mother. Christine was also known as a wonderful hostess and cook who would often share a spoonful of cake batter with one of her little ones before washing the pan.

Christine was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Rev. Harry L. Kidd, Jr. who served in the Virginia United Methodist Church Conference for 39 years. She is also preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Hallie Mae Kidd. Christine is survived by her children Lawrence and Pinar Kidd, Dr. Mark and Lois Barrett, Dr. Timothy and Sandra Kidd, Stephen Kidd, and Esther and Steven Washing, 15 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. Christine is also survived by two brothers, Rev. Raymond J. Hahn of North Carolina, Willard D. Hahn and sister-in-law, Jeralyn of Kentucky.

The funeral service conducted by Pastor Justin Linseisen will be at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, 463 E. Main Street, Lexington, Kentucky. The burial will follow at the Boonesboro Cemetery, 6675 Old Boonesboro Road, Winchester, Kentucky.

Visitation will begin prior to the service at 11:30 a.m. at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home.
