Ronnie Grimes Looney
Funeral Time: Thursday, September 26th at 12:30PM
LOONEY, Ronnie Grimes, 78, native of Lexington, KY, husband of Kathleen Watts Looney, passed away on Monday, September 16, 2019 at Mease Countryside Hospital in Safety Harbor Florida. Ronnie was a graduate of Lafayette High School, and the Riverside Military Academy in Gainesville, GA. He was a former co-owner of MikeRon Electric and M & R Power Line Construction, and a former employee of Henderson Electric in Lexington. He was a Captain in the Civil Air Patrol, Danville, KY GLR-KY-122, a member of Devotion Lodge #160 F & AM, 32° Scottish Rite, Lexington Consistory, and a member of the Oleika Temple Shrine. Ronnie loved the Lord, his family, friends and church family. He was a member of Harborside Christian Church in Safety Harbor, FL. He was an inspiration to everyone. He loved to fish, hunt, water sports and so much more…he just enjoyed life. Along with his wife, he is survived by a son, Ronald G. “Sonny” Looney, Jr., Danville, KY; daughter, Leslie Looney Ballard, Stanford, KY; step-sons, Greg Cornett and Eric (Heather) Cornett, both of Louisville, KY; granddaughters, Lauren Cornett (Garrett) Brown, Claire Cornett and Katelyn Cornett; grandson, Cole Cornett; great grandson, Campbell Brown; and half-brothers, Clyde William Sloan and Ralph Wayne Sloan. Services will be 12:30 pm Thursday, September 26 at Kerr Brothers – Harrodsburg Road, with burial following in the Blue Grass Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 10:30 am – 12:30 pm Thursday at the funeral home, with Masonic Rites at 12:00 Noon. Pallbearers will be, Rusty Hamm, Jason Sloan, Jared Sloan, Charles Moates, Monte Owens, Ryan Owens, Chris Higginbotham, Kevin Higginbotham; Honorary Pallbearers will be Mike Higginbotham and members of the Civil Air Patrol #122. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675-8516 or the Shriners Hospital for Children, 110 Conn Terrace, Lexington, KY 40508.
