Everett Joseph Collins, 83, husband of Carol Bailey Collins, passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at home surrounded by his wife and six children and his friend, Flynn Rodgers. He was born July 21, 1936 in New York City, New York, son of the late Agnes Duff Collins and Thomas Collins. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Carol and their children; Esther (Earnest) Edwards, Deborah Collins, Matthew (Noelle) Collins, Stephen (Sally) Collins, Joseph (Rachelle) Collins and Madalyn (James) Willis; 7 grandchildren, Francia (Carlos) Gonzalez, Daniel Martinez, Tyler (Brooke) Collins, Kyle Collins, Evan Collins, Nathaniel Edwards, Jaydin Collins; 6 great grandchildren, Caroli Garcia, Boston Collins, Carla Gonzalez, Ayshia Martinez, Jonah Gonzalez and Everly Collins; numerous nieces and nephews; and special nieces, Arda Collins (Bryan Beck) and Jennifer (Michel) Leveau. He was preceded in death by his brothers Thomas Haley Collins and Gerald Collins, and survived by his brother Ronald (Cathy) Collins, Inverness, FL. Everett attended Fort Wayne Bible College, Eastern Kentucky University and earned his barbering certificate at Lexington/Bailey’s Barber College where he was an instructor. Everett was a hair stylist in Lexington for 38 years, owning Ev’s Southside Barbershop in Southland and Everybody’s Hair Design in Stonewall Shopping Center. Our family wishes to thank Brother Flynn Rodgers for his friendship and kindness during this most difficult time and to his nurse, Alyson and the hospice team at Bluegrass Care Navigators for their care and support. Pallbearers: Daniel Martinez, Tyler Collins, Kyle Collins, Evan Collins, Nathaniel Edwards, Greg Bailey, Mark Bailey, Francia Gonzalez and Jaydin Collins. Honorary pallbearers: Roger Bailey, Paul Bailey, James Bailey, Paul Pugh, Gary Compton, Greg Ives and Jennifer Bailey. Visitation and funeral will be held on Friday, September 13 at Clays Mill Baptist Church, 3000 Clays Mill Road, Lexington, KY by Dr. Jeffery Fugate and eulogy by Brother Flynn Rodgers. Visitation is from 9:00-11:00 am with services following. Burial at Blue Grass Memorial Gardens.
