Patricia McIntosh

Patricia Elizabeth Mays McIntosh, 70 died in Lexington on Wednesday, November 15, 2017. She was born in Richmond, Kentucky in 1947 to the late P. Edward Mays and Elizabeth Jones Mays. Pat was a graduate of Henry Clay High School and attended the University of Kentucky. She was a retired optician at LensCrafters. Pat was a former member of the Keeneland Club, Idle Hour Country Club, and Lexington Country Club. Pat was predeceased by her husband, David L. McIntosh and her father P. Edward Mays. She is survived by her mother, Elizabeth Jones Mays; brother Keith Edward Mays (Brynn Gallaher); niece Julia Elizabeth Mays Trimble (Trey); nephew Keith Edward Mays Jr.; sister-in-law Susanna Lawrence; cousins C. Thomas Murrell III (Jeanne), Charles Wright (Sandy), Ann Murrell, Robert Jones (Janet), John Johnson (Marci), and her beloved dog Lexie. She leaves behind several LensCrafters co-workers, and special friends including Eloise Griffith Penn, Betsey Karns, and Jo Gawthrop. The family also wishes to thank Vicky Kenney, Abbe Dodd and Jerrye Haggerty for their care and friendship. Special thanks to Judy Shropshire for adopting Lexie. Pat began her career as a flight attendant during the Golden Age of air travel and flew for United Airlines based in Chicago. After working for D’Arcy Advertising, she returned to Lexington and married Duncan Stewart Jr. Together they operated Shaker Run, a broodmare farm. She also owned and operated The Quill, a stationary store on East Main. Pat subsequently spent several years as a personal shopper for McAlpins and Embrys. Pat was a devoted daughter and spent the latter years of her life caring for her mother. She was an animal lover, and a fantastic cook who enjoyed entertaining for friends and family. She loved to dance, was a loyal Wildcat fan, and an ambitious golfer. She will always be remembered fondly for her dry and sarcastic sense of humor, which we will miss very much. The family will receive visitors at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, 463 East Main Street, in Lexington on Monday, December 11 from 12-1:45pm. A graveside service will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens afterward from 2-2:30. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Chrysalis House, 1589 Hill Rise Drive, Lexington KY 40504.
